    Apparently Lorenzen Wright, Jr. is a fifth-year senior at UT-Martin and a bench player on the basketball team. His mother is the one being charged with Wright's murder.

    Has to be an incredibly challenging time for him and his siblings.

    Given that they were recently divorced at the time of his death, it is highly unlikely that she would have had access to whatever other assets he had. Not impossible, but unlikely.

    The life insurance policy, though, was a negotiated part of the divorce and was meant essentially as insurance against the agreed child support payments he was to make. So yeah, it makes a pretty good motive.
