Where'd everybody (well, men 18-34) go?

I've seen variations of this story (pasted from JSOnline) in several TV industry publications this week; I thought I'd ask the board's opinion:

Why are young men turning away from sports TV?

    Where'd he go?

Some television executives are scratching their heads about the recent disappearance of men ages 18-34 in terms of sports television viewing.

For example, NASCAR Sprint Cup auto racing is down 11% among all viewers this season, but among men 18-34 it's down 25%.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series on ESPN2 is down 10% in all households, but down 38% among 18-34 men.

The NCAA men's basketball tournament is up 2% overall, but down 11% among 18-34 men.

If you run into a member of this wandering species, tell him to go home because TV sports are looking for him.

It's a little disturbing that I'm no longer part of that demographic.

Maybe there's a ton of guys who were born in 1973 or 1974 (like me) who just stepped up in class?
