I dig Olive Garden. And I hate the Yankees.

But making the playoffs the first eight years of the decade -- including three World Series and a championship; do we count 2000? -- is hardly a bust. It's not winning the World Series every year, but who can do that? These aren't the Yankees of the '90s. We might not ever see that again. They were truly a great, great team, and this year's team -- and others in this decade; do we count 2000? -- simply were not built from that mold.

Are the Yankees a bust on a New York-Steinbrenner scale? Yeah, I guess. But in the grand scheme? How many teams can say they've been to the playoffs in the first eight seasons -- do we count 2000?; I do, obviously -- of this decade?

On that argument, yes. But how many teams would fork over the dollars (including the Angels- yeah I know they won ONE WS) but from a standpoint of consistency, they've had winning records, battled in the playoffs...this isn't the Nationals, Rangers or Giants we're talking about here.
