I might have missed a procedural step, but didn't McChrystal resign simply because Obama didn't want him there anymore after reading the RS article? So the DoD report that says he didn't violate any regulations is really immaterial to that decision, which basically became a personality conflict or lack of chemistry or what have you. Given that and given the DoD's obvious interests in safeguarding the military's reputation, I don't see a whole lot of meaning in this report.

A Chinese guy and a Jew are sitting in a bar. The Jewish guy suddenly punches the Chinese guy in the face.

    "Why??" cried the Chinese guy.

"For what you did to Pearl Harbor!" says the Jew.

"Pearl Harbor? I'm Chinese, not Japanese!"

    "Chinese, Japanese, what's the difference?"

So the Chinese guy picks up the Jewish guy and throws him through the window. "That's for the Titanic!'

"The Titanic?" screams the Jewish guy, "It was a freaking iceberg!"

    "Iceberg, Goldberg, what's the difference?"

I think his resignation was requested, which is kind of a "resign so we don't have to fire you" situation. But, regardless, you are right. This investigation is pretty meaningless. Kind of like the DOJ investigating the Obama Administration (sorry, I couldn't resist).

Didn't this president promise to bring the troops home?

    Wahhh. Get over yourself.

And yeah, this investigation was a waste of money. McChrystal served at the pleasure of the president. He displeased the President. End of story.

I think that we all might be able to agree that Rolling Stone cost Stanley McChrystal a scholarship.
