We've broken them out quite a bit the last few years. First, an 8- or 9-part summer series. The next year, an all-time all-county team as part of the celebration of 100 years of high school football in the state. The next, to a lesser extent, a follow-up story about the history of high school football in our own neck of the woods.
And, of course, the occasional look back at some of the great teams when there's a reunion or a team at their alma mater making a championship run.
If you get the right circumstances (bunch of guys in a room just telling stories about the old times), they can be a lot of fun to do. And they always seem to go over well with readers. We got a lot of compliments on ours.
