  1. The WAPO had a story on Arthur Bremer, the man who shot George Wallace.
    Bremer has been paroled and is living around Cumberland Maryland. The writer tried to interview Bremer, who declined. ...
    It's a long story, that draws a lot on portion's of Bremer's diary, which was penned before he shot Wallace... It's in same vein as Gay Talese's "Frank Sinatra has a Cold" story, where he wrote about a subject without directly talking to him.
    He shot George Wallace to be famous. Now he lives in silence.

    There's a good Pizza place in Cumberland, but not much else I'd classify as good. A lot of parolees settle in Western Maryland.
     
  4. Cumberland's got a neat little old main street section that's closed to vehicle traffic and full of little shops and eateries with outdoor seating. Very quaint.
