When's your wife's wake? God damn, after the Mountaineers game, of course!

Do they burn the couches in the funeral home?

Scheduling the viewing around the game = considerate
Explaining it in the obit = hilarious

Exactly. My dad's headed to a funeral that is going to be tomorrow during State U's game. There may be only immediate family there.

A few years ago, my cousin scheduled his wedding a few days before New Year's Eve. We told him if the team was in a bowl game in the middle of his wedding, we were going to put a TV in the back of the church and him and his wife would just have to deal with it. :p

My wife's friend's dad died this summer.

Funeral announced in the paper for Saturday.

Woman's son's team makes the American Legion State tournament. They play Saturday.

She changes the date of the funeral. And the announcement in the paper mentioned it was b/c of the American Legion State tourney.

That's understandable. A close family member was a direct participant.

But this is a meaningless regular-season game against shitty Maryland. You can't miss the game (or half of it) to send off a close friend or relative?

Nobody has to miss anything. They're just having the viewing after the game.
The corpse doesn't care when people come to look at it.

That corpse has a better future than Bill Stewart if Maryland wins.
