I guess Girardi is possible, HB, but keep in mind, George is in love with Mattingly and, unless Mr. Steinbrenner is non compos mentis, he and Cashman have pretty much determined Donnie will be next. They might fear Mattingly leaving the organization if they were to go with Girardi.

Mattingly as manager and Girardi a bench coach?

The one overriding thought I've had about the 2007 Yankees is that they're not a great hitting team, and does that reflect on Mattingly? Other than the ARod/Jeter/Posada triumverate, the Yankee hitters have struggled.

Well, if Casty is right on Mattingly, having Joe step aside late in the season with some "issue" after they're far behind gives Donnie Baseball an on-the-job audition.

As for the lack of hitting, Mattingly is no longer the hitting coach. That's Kevin Long and the fact that he hasn't been fired is the best reason to believe George is no longer George.

    Thanks for the information, Casty.

Again, wicked... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

Steinbrenner is not The Boss of old...he's an old man who might be losing it.
Torre is too proud to go along with some lame excuse to walk away until his contract is up and with George not really running the show, Cashman will not force Torre out.

Not saying it will happen. Just kind of tossing ideas out, spnited. Eat some Nathan's and relax, man.
