When bench clearing lacrosse brawls breakout

    John Tavares was a damn good lacrosse player too, although that seems to run in his family.

    The story with Gretzky, if I remember correctly, is that he was actually better at lacrosse growing up and was forced with the decision to play one or the other, chose hockey, and the rest is history.

    Nieuwendyk in particular was a guy who was not only better at lacrosse, he liked it more. And he played both sports at RPI until the Flames drafted him. At that point he figured, correctly, that he could make a decent living at hockey if he concentrated on it.

    Junior hockey has become to big of a business to allow these guys to play lacrosse in the offseason. Plus kids play most sports year round now, which is a damn shame.
