When a newspaper refuses to editorialize

Didn't one of the Newhouse Alabama papers have its editorial board endorse Obama in 2008 and the publisher wrote a separate editorial endorsing McCain?

Or it may have been Gore-Kerry in 2004. Either way, talk about an editorial page feeling strongly both ways.

May be in the minority here, but opinion pages are the linchpin of a community newspaper. Couldn't imagine them without one, as long as they're opining on local issues and steering clear of national stuff.
