I think that the most surprising sports feat that hasn’t been accomplished would be the Kansas Jayhawks football team winning the national championship.

Technically, Mike Rae of the Raiders was a Super Bowl winning QB

I would throw my hat in on the Van Brocklin passing yards one.

Another is Secretariat still holding the fastest times for all three Triple Crown races. The Belmont I can understand, but you would think one of those would have fell in almost 50 years.

Don’t forget Tony Jones, he was the fifth guy and caught 30 passes one year.

Also, for at least two seasons, they had a backfield of Lorenzo white, Alonzo Highsmith, Mike Rozier and Allen Pinkett. All third round and higher draft picks.

Too bad Buddy Ryan couldn't produce a matching defense. BTW, the Oilers had great uniforms and logo.

I have always thought that we would see a woman kicker at a high level in college football. I don't see why a woman can't successfully kick field goals. Hell Wisconsin's kicker was shitty this year. They finally changed to the Hintze kid that has a huge leg but not the best accuracy. I can't believe that there isn't a girl soccer player out there that can kick with accuracy up to 40 -45 yards or so.

Especially since it is now commonplace to have the punter (or even a completely separate kickoff specialist) do the kickoffs. The rationale against having a female kicker was always that they couldn't consistently send kickoffs through the end zone.

Exactly. Using UW as an example again, Zach Hintze has been kicking off for 3 years now. He booms nearly every kick out of the end zone. But they have always used a different place kicker (until Hintze kicked a 62 yarder vs Purdue). I also always thought that covering a kick off would be dangerous for a woman but place kicking should be fine.

On the second one, it’s really not that surprising. For the most part defensemen are trailing the play and shooting from way outside. They’re on the point on the power play. You don’t have defensemen mucking it up in front of the net going for greasy goals and tip ins. They’ll get a shit ton of assists but 50 goals seems to be an impossible number to reach.

Maryland basketball has never been No. 1 in the AP poll. Pretty wild for a program that has won an NCAA title, been to another Final Four and has spent 23 weeks at No. 2.
