What's the deal with CSI?

Every goddamn commercial break I'm being told that Marquis Grissom is leaving this show. Apparently this is news on par with the return of Jesus.

Someone explain to me what I'm missing.

As long as Otis Nixon isn't leaving.

Isn't Grissom coaching with the Nats now? That will keep him busy.

Is this the Very Special CSI where their only clue is a pair of parachute pants?

Nationals players hate him there: nothing but damn Who music blasting in the dugout

What I find amusing about it is that the Grissom character has been one of the most aloof and distant lead characters on a top-rated show that I can ever remember. I really like the show and have always been a Petersen fan (To Live and Die in L.A., Long Gone, Manhunter) but the sentimentality is so out of step with the character and the show, it's funny.

All three of the shows use Who songs as their themes.

Yeah, by the time they get to CSI: Podunk, they'll be down to Eminence Front
