What's the BEST thing a boss has ever done for you?

One of my MEs tried to keep me when I had accepted another job offer. I wanted to go to the desk because I wanted off the high-RPM merry-go-round of college coverage so he offered to alter my job description somewhat. I said thanks but no thanks and rode off into the sunset.

Only after six months at the next gig, where I was ready to wrap my car around the next telephone pole, did I realize what had happened. Every other time I'd moved on the boss said "There's the door. Good luck." This one wanted me to stay. I've regretted not staying ever since.
