IJAG, I think I can safely say, having been in eighth grade or a freshman in high school when She Bop was out, that no one gave a thought to what it meant. Same thing for Turning Japanese by The Vapors. Hell, Pictures Of Lily slipped by many folks' notice in the 60s.

None of those songs are overt about masturbation on their face.
