"Larry Munson, John Ward and Jack Cristal filling the air with Saturday night SEC football."

What teams did John Ward and Jack Cristal call? Does Munson still do Georgia games? Would have loved to hear his call a few years ago when the whole team came out to celebrate a first-quarter touchdown against Florida. In-your-face moments like that are made for Southern/beloved/over-the-top/announcers of a certain age.

Here's a few more from the (Kicked-the) bucket list:

    1) Day World Series games.
    2) Depression-era arenas. Boston Garden, Chicago Stadium, St. Louis Arena, Maple Leaf Gardens and the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium couldn't pay for bazillion dollar contracts.
    3) Fans rushing the field at pro games. Today's mayhem either stays in the stands or parking lots.
    4) ESPN showing fringe sports: The WWL pays no more mind to tractor pulls, monster trucks and surfing.
    5) Crowds at baseball games doing the Macarena in the seventh inning stretch. What happens in 1996 stays in 1996.

Was Shag Crawford the last? Or Nestor something or other, Chilak?

I'll echo the Monday Night Football being special.

    It's become almost meaningless.

Had to be an AL ump, so not Shag. All NL umps went internal in the early 1970s, the AL ones about 2-3 years after

When each pro league had 28 teams, maximum.
When Canada had up to seven pro hockey franchises and the L.A. Kings were a novelty.
When Howard Schultz cared about pro basketball.
When Glenn Robinson's $100 million contract was debated for months/when pro athletes salaries were just outrageous and not ludicrous
