What would it take for McCain to win?

I know the popular belief on this board is that Obama will be the next president.

What would have to happen now for McCain to pull out the election? I think we all don't want to see a bunch of Sirhan Sirhan jokes or references to the terrorist attack comments from earlier this week.

Would catching Bin Laden do it?

    What else might do it?

    1. Catching Osama. I can see Bush and McCain, side by side, having a nationally televised speech to celebrate it.

    2. A silly gaffe by Obama (like picking his nose, or something to that effect) that the right wing will be able to harp on, and that the lazy voters will seize as the opportunity to vote against him.

I really wonder what kind of impact catching Bin Laden would have on the voters.

Me, too, at this point, given the economy.

Would it tighten the race? Probably.

Would it TURN it, on its own? Doubtful.

    Economic upturn would be critical.

Bin Laden captured/killed. That would help, too.

Obama picking HRC as the VP.

    That really made me laugh.

As for the question: Big lead in the polls or not, I still remain extremely skeptical Americans will vote for a man of color--one with a vaguely Muslim last name--as President. So I guess my answer is "Be on the ballot."

Seeing the thread title and then seeing that a poster named armageddon had the latest post made me chuckle.

If Clinton picked Fleetwood Mac as his campaign song, I want to see what Obama picks...

He'll probably go with Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles.

It'd be cool if he went with DMX.

It would be cooler if he went with Vanilla Ice...

Stevie would probably be the safest choice.
