These are some great replies guys, but I said in the original post that weddings and births don't count. Those are the obvious ones.

    Wanna make you think.

    Shit. I didn't read that.

So, that said. I got nothing.

I will say this, the day I quit my current job (or get moved back into sports) will be the greatest day of my life.

    Until then, I got nothing.

Not counting births, weddings, the real important stuff like that...probably the day I accepted my current job. Showed myself, and less importantly the prick who was holding me down, that I could indeed make it to a certain level in the biz.

Not married yet, and no younguns either.

That said... I have no idea.

You've all got me thinking about sports. Last year's SEC (basketball, men's) tournament was an incredible experience. That was a long weekend, though, so not a day. For the record, it was not just the tournament, but a great road trip with one of my best friends. My best spring break ever (saved the best for last).

2007, the first and only time Mississippi State has won a super regional to date. I went to Omaha twice as a youngster (97, 98) and the chance to go back as an adult was indescribable. Left Field Lounge that day, actually both days, was as close to heaven on earth as I can imagine, short of my upcoming honeymoon.

Maybe the most fun I've ever had was at Harrah's in New Orleans last year. I turned $100 into about $1800 on the run of a lifetime at the let it ride/3 card/craps tables. I now LOVE the casino.

Good topic. I'm pretty sure none of these qualify as "the best day of my life" or however it was phrased, but I really don't know. These are all fairly recent.

I'm going to break the rule to state September 1, 2007.

Early that morning, my second daughter was born. Fourteen hours later, Corey Lynch blocks a field goal attempt in Ann Arbor Michigan, giving Appalachian State a 34-32 victory over the Wolverines. I'm not one for tears, but things got dusty twice that day.

One Friday in early January of 1991.

I'm a senior in high school. I was a mediocre athlete at best, but first period of gym, we're playing basketball. And every single shot I take, I make, even a three-pointer that I launch out of nowhere. I totally dominate and even my gym teacher is impressed.

Middle of the school day, they post the roles for the senior class play that I had tried out for the previous month. A bunch of kids had tried out, and I didn't think I had done that well. I got one of the biggest supporting parts.

Later in the school day, I get the results back from a test that I had taken in a class. I had hoped just to pass. Instead, I got a 100.

Get home from school, look through the mail. Found a letter from one of the colleges I applied to. Figure that it's another rejection letter. Instead, I was accepted. It was my first acceptance letter, one of two. I ended up going to the other school, but I've always been grateful for the rejected one.

My dad gets home from work, I show him the letter, and he decides, let's do something spontaneous to celebrate. We ended up going to an NBA game with the local team and the Magic/Worthy Lakers and the game went into overtime before L.A. won.

Just one of those days in which everything just came together.

A September day in 2006. My wife and I were in South Korea to bring home our son. This was our "tour day" on the trip and we went to the town where he was born -- Suwon. We went to the folk village there (similiar to Colonial Williamsburg, except Korean), toured the hospital where he was born 9.5 months earlier, met the hospital social worker who worked with his birth mom, and then toured the World Cup stadium just down the street where the US won a game in 2002.

The Suwon Bluewings, a K-League team, play there now. I promised myself right then that I'd be back for a game with my son. The day that happens, I'll have a new best day.

It's also the day I learned firsthand what it's like to be a minority. In Seoul, very few people paid attention to two white Americans. In Suwon, everyone noticed us. I learned a lot that day.
