    What is a flibbertijibbet? And who cares what Liz Taylor thinks in the primary?

    The opposite of a flabbergoobertig but I'm not positive on this one.

    To CNN's and/or Ms. Taylor's discredit, it's actually spelled with a 'g'.

    flibbertigibbet

    a silly, flighty person;

    Flibbertigibbet

    Flibbertigibbet may refer to two separate cultural figures:

    In Anglo-Saxon mythology Flibbertigibbet is apprentice to Wayland Smith[1], who becomes exasperated with his behaviour and throws him down a hill, where he transforms into a stone.

    In Shakespeare he is one of the five fiends that possessed 'poor Tom' in King Lear (IV, i (1605)). Shakespeare got the name from Samuel Harsnet's Declaration of Egregious Popish Impostures (1603), where one reads of 40 fiends, which Jesuits cast out and among which was Fliberdigibbet, a name that had been previously used by Latimer and others for a mischievous gossip. Elsewhere the name is apparently a synonym for Puck. Its origin is in a meaningless representation of chattering.[2]

  4. "How do you find a word that means Maria
    "A flibbertigibbbet, a will-o-the-wisp, a clown."

    I thought I'd post the ref from the Sound Of Music before HC got around to it.

    Christopher Plummer wept.

  6. Nevermind Liz. Getting her to commit is one thing, getting her to stay is another.

    She'll probably just leave Hillary for another candidate within a few months.

    However, Christopher Guest laughed and Amanda Plummer suddenly wanted a thesaurus but had no idea why.

    Bobby Bowden would certainly be bumfuzzled by this "flibbertgibbet" word.

    It's William Randolph Hearst's pet name for his lover's vagina.
