What the general impression of John Calipari around the country?

As a UMass guy, a few moments stick out with me involving Cal.

    1. His speech at the memorial service for longtime UMass coach Jack Leaman was beautiful.
    2. When UMass dedicated its court to Leaman, Cal flew up for the ceremony, even though the Tigers had a game that night.
    3. His compassion for Darius Washington after Memphis lost that absolute heartbreaker in the C-USA championship a few years ago.

I can see the perception of him being a snake-oil salesman, but no one can ever convince me that he's a bad guy, doesn't care about his players, or that he's dirtier than any other big-time college coach.

And I disagree with that impression. :)

Look, this isn't Nam. There are rules.

  4. What he did to Lou Carnesecca makes him a bad guy.
I heard all these things said about Tark, too.
