What the general impression of John Calipari around the country?

Mulling that question for a possible column, so I throw it out to you.

What do people make of his success at Memphis?

Does the stink of the UMass thing still attach enough to him that no big-conference AD will take a chance at this point, no matter how badly he beats up the C-USA?

Do you think he learned his lesson, or just hasn't gotten caught again?

My impression? Just hasn't gotten caught yet.

Have no way to back that assertion up, but that's the feeling. Dude just feels like a slimeball.

EDIT: Do I think that in any way hinders his chances of getting a new job if he wants it? Hell no. As pseudo said, W-L can be very blinding.

I'm in an A-10 market, so I'm probably not quite impartial. Personally? I would've let Chaney go after him. And yeah, I think he's still as dirty as they come.

But a lot of time has passed since the Camby deal. I wonder how many people even remember the details? And if he goes on another Final Four run, ADs and boosters will only see the W-L record.

Personally know nothing about him, but my SID buddy said he's encountered him a couple of times and that when not on the court, he's draped in crushed velvet with gold chains and pinky rings.

Quite a run he's already had, though, and he seemed satisfied after last season to stick around.

As you say, though, the phone only has to ring once.
