Why don't you just walk away and stop trying to make things worse?

    Bad data.

You are using data pulled from high school, and we all know what you want to do in high school is not what you eventually become as an adult.

    Not on an individual basis.

But I bet it correlates pretty strongly on a collective basis.

Do you really think that, once college begins, those education majors with bad SAT scores soar past the philosophy and engineering majors with good ones?

Congratulations, you have proven to me that teachers have higher IQ's than butchers and cashiers.

And Business Managers, Pharmacists, Nurses, Policemen, Salesmen...

If you want to argue that a 17-year old kid checking a box on a ACT or SAT form holds the same value as someone activly working in the field, then go right ahead. And professors are educators and teachers.

So answer the question: Do you think that, once everyone starts college, that the kids who major in education at 17 somehow soar past - collectively - the kids who major in philosophy? In engineering? In biological sciences? Is that what you are arguing?

You are more than welcome to seek out my thoughts on this board re: business majors.

And I think you know that I'm not talking about professors here. It's utterly disingenuous of you to try to shoehorn them into the discussion. That profession draws smarter people because it pays them. Likewise, there's a high bar of entry. I would actually be interested in seeing the school teachers split into subsets of elementary school and high school teachers. I would wager - and I think I've seen data to confirm - that high school teachers obliterate elementary school teachers.

Also: Nurses and police officers don't require four-year degrees.

I think there has been quite a shift toward four-year degrees in nursing, and in police work to a lesser degree.

That IQ chart seems to show that teachers are pretty smart. They grade out above pharmacists, nurses and production managers, they're right in line with accountants and they're only a bit behind engineers and lawyers.

Look at the graphical chart here:

    http://sq.4mg.com/IQ-jobs.htm

Look how low the low range is for elementary school teachers. As predicted, they are, overall, way below high school teachers. Looks like the range is 85-112 for elementary school teachers and 91-126 for high school teachers.

Wouldn't you like to monitor if your kid's teacher is an 85 or a 112? Am I wrong here?

Dick, for the sake of your future practice, I hope you will invest in a course to help sharpen your social skills. I know that sounds terrible, but I truly believe you would benefit. The best legal mind in the world is of no use if you can't win a client to use it for.

I disagree with a lot of what Dick has to say on a lot of topics, but people keep floating out there that he is somehow involved with law, perhaps in law school and seeking to become a lawyer. I'd say that treads pretty closely to outing and it is not relevant in any way to the discussion, nor is it something I've seen Dick himself say.

If he has mentioned it before and I missed it, then I apologize, but if he hasn't publicly acknowledged that he's studying law, I think it's fair to ask those who know about it to leave it off the board. It seem quite contrary to the board rules to allow it to continue and (probably) go further.
