Another off-shoot of the best/worst covers thread. Maybe we can just make the jobs board into the covers board. :-\

Let's say some record exec gives you enough money to cut an EP of your favorite songs. What would they be?

One of mine would be a song I just heard: Bob Seger's "Night Moves." Such a great, well-written, evocative and timeless song. One of my all-time favorites. I'd also cover "Baker Street," cause, well, everybody else has done it. And Pearl Jam's "Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town," cause it's maybe the best goddamn song ever recorded. Mild exaggeration, but if it's not my favorite song ever, well, it doesn't take long to call the roll. Or whatever it was Bum Phillips said about Earl Campbell.

I'd also cover just about any song by the band in my avatar :D.

    How about you?

I'll do a 5-song EP. My top five all-time songs to cover.

    Barrier Reef — Old 97s
Come Pick me Up — Ryan Adams
Radiation Vibe — Fountains of Wayne
    Dead Flowers — Stones
You Never Even Called Me By Name — David Allen Coe.
honorable mention for Anytime by My Morning Jacket.

Ask me tomorrow, and I'll probably have five different ones.

I would get a punky rock band to do a cover of Copacabana. Speed that baby up and rock it out. Maybe someone like Paramore or even Cobra Starship. I think it would take the world by storm.

I'm also pondering "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones and an acoustic guitar-only arrangement of the Bee Gees "Tragedy."

since I can't carry a tune, my choice of songs is very limited, but the ones I would attempt are:
    Thunder Road - Springsteen
Racing in the Street - Springsteen
    Desolation Row - Dylan
Simple Twist of Fate - Dylan

I was going to include that one, but I didn't like the idea of changing the gender of the person Bob was singing about.

I know there are a ton others I've thought of in the past, but I'd love to do "Seagull" by Bad Company.
