What schools did you reject, or who rejected you?

Remembering my incomplete application to Wake makes me think back to when I was applying to college. I got accepted by, and attended, my first choice but it was so easy and cheap to apply back then (1971-72) I sent off about six or seven applications and only got rejected by one.

Accepted: Baldwin-Wallace, Muskingum, Marietta, Heidelberg, and my eventual alma mater, which I prefer not to disclose so I don't out myself (I am that school's most famous and successful graduate ;D). Chose lots of safety schools.

    Rejected: SUNY-Potsdam, of all places.

For undergrad I applied to three -- Clemson, South Carolina and Georgia Tech. One turned me down. I'll let you guess which one! ;)

Accepted at Wesleyan, Williams and Michigan.
No rejections, two wait lists (Penn and Harvard).
Went to Wesleyan. Next to Alice, best decision of my life.

VaTech, and a small private school. Went for the small school experience.

Rejected MIT, but no surprise, I applied after the deadline. I didn't really want to freeze my ass off in fucking Cambridge/Boston anyway.

I applied to five schools, was accepted at four, and wait-listed at one. These were all very small schools, and I ended up going to one in up-state New York. I have a thing about big schools where whenever I visit, I get very uncomfortable, as if everyone knows I don't belong there. But I really miss not having a nationally-known team to root for.

Applied to seven schools, accepted by two. My grades weren't that great because I've never been that good at doing busywork. I learn more when the work is concentrated, which is why my Regents scores were good and my SATs were very good. My grades in college were also better because the work was more focused, rather than just filling out worksheets designed to keep us busy.

Give me 10 math problems to do, and I'll either get them right, or learn from the ones I got wrong. Give me 50 math problems to do, and all I'm trying to do is get the work done because I'm feeling overwhelmed.

The three schools I applied to for undergrad were all in-state schools that could not reject me because of my ACT score (if you had at least a 21, they were required to accept you) and I couldn't go out-of-state because of money reasons.

For grad school, I applied to Texas, Indiana and Columbia. Got the rudest rejection letter ever from Texas (think two sentences of "you didn't get in" and three paragraphs of "We are the shit and you are a loser and we know you will fail at life") so now I hate them even more than before. Got a two sentence rejection from Columbia, inviting me to reapply in the future. Was accepted to Indiana and probably deafened my mother with my screaming when I opened the letter and found out I got in. (This was two days after I was rejected from Texas.)

Applied early decision to UVA and got in, so that was it.

Applied to Oregon, Berkeley and Cal State Fullerton. Got into all three, but Berkeley gave me a two year redirect to the hippie commune that is UC Santa Cruz. Went to Oregon.
