Sacrifice the whole system. Bring it all down and start from nothing. Why not, at this point.

They pick up my trash twice a week. I could get by on once every two weeks.

This thread reads like a republican presidential debate.

It's time to stop fighting the war we've been fighting for 45 years and have lost worse than any other war we've fought: The War on Poverty.

    The war on the poor.

old_tony graciously offers to sacrifice the poor.

We'll need to update the national brand strategy then. Instead of 'E pluribus unum,' how about 'Sink or Swim' ?

The "War on Drugs" is the worst war we have ever fought.

Drug abuse is a medical issue, not a criminal one.

    Really?

So you want ALL drugs legalized?

I think if we treated the issue as what it is, a public health one, it would work better than throwing tens of thousands of people in jail.

BTW, alcohol is by far the deadliest drug in the world and it is legal everywhere.

Whoa, that's an absurd comparison, for many obvious reasons.

First, there is plenty of bloat at the Pentagon. Part of it is because the operation is so damn big, out of necessity. Yes, we can find cuts there. In fact, Bob Gates dug up $450 billion in cuts (about 10 percent) over the next decade before he stepped down.

But to say just cut defense spending because it costs a lot of money ... well, good luck with that.

People still read the WSJ's editorial pages, and they serve the same purpose.

As opposed to the enlightened "truth" you read, I am sure.
