Still, your initial argument about a purer local level is a non-starter.

And Russia is a failed experiment.

Local public servants can have their fingers in pies. But the system can get them quicker than we can get through to our senator's office.

So you're actually in favor of having Phil Gramm as Treasury secretary after the way he fucked up the banking regulations? That's what you would get with a McCain presidency.

HUGE bullish surge on Intrade on Bayh, today . . . he's now the pronounced Dem VP favorite.

Of course, Fatman's pet, Flipper, remains the solid favorite on the GOP side.

Bayh would be a great choice for Obama.

I guess the Biden bus is parked now that Obama has visited Europe and thinks he has that international relations thing down pat.

I think Biden is great, but I think Obama knows that his past could come back to haunt him. He also could be a liability if he shoots his mouth off on the campaign trail.

Bayh is a good, safe choice and he'll pay huge dividends if he delivers Indiana.

Russia was moseying along quite nicely for a while there. It had a good run as a superpower. This empire in retreat could stand to learn a lot from Russia's demise.

We need to stop making such people senators. It really is that simple.

Bayh is a straight-down-the-middle family-legacy career politician who's about as exciting as oatmeal.

Which leaves me disappointed that BO might pick him, especially given his
    sketchy foreign policy record.

But I can well-understand WHY BO might pick him.

    We'll see.
