    When I was younger, my friends and I used to play baseball during thunder storms. I don't know if I'd recommend it, but it was fun.

    I would say talk on a cell phone while under a tree, which is how a girl got killed right outside of DC last night.

    You're exactly right. That's why you're still not safe from the shower or telephone, because a house still can be struck.

    That's what got this thread started.
    My mom has this notion to stay away from newspaper and paper in general during a thunderstorm.
