What - no VETO thread?

The veto was predictable, but of course, this administration couldn't do it without lifting its hind leg and pissing bucket-loads of hubris for the world to see.

Try to believe Bush said this today. Just try:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070501/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_iraq;_ylt=Av2YhQIHAZOVX8w604os4tiyFz4D

Bush, in other words: Yes, worldwide terrorism increased by 29 percent last year, and it's at an all-time high under my watch. And most of those new incidents are IN IRAQ, where terrorists have flooded since our invasion, where not one of my lame-ass justifications has come to fruition. Our military continues to be befuddled by a bunch of rag-tag insurgents. But if the Democrats have any influence, things will really go to hell.

Today's Republican party has not an ounce of shame. None.

So, the L'il Commander thinks that the American people -- who polls show favor a withdraw timetable and trust the Democrats more on Iraq and national security -- will see him as the steadfast defender of our troops against the want-us-to-lose liberals.

He'll quickly discover, as he takes that 30 percent approval rating out for a spin, that, as with everything else about Iraq, he's spectacularly wrong.

  2. He doesn't want the generals taking orders from politicians.
Somewhere, John Shinseki reaches for the bourbon...

    Do you mean Eric Shinseki?

    *Serious question, not smart-ass*

It's easy to favor a timetable if the question is framed right.

How about "If we show progress by Petreus' fall deadline and appear to be winning the war, do you want to finish the job or immediately withdraw?"

Here's betting that "Since Iraq is in total chaos and Sen. Reid says we are losing the war, should we bring our soldiers home?"

You can manipulate the answers to these damn things on the bias of the person asking the question.

WAAAAY too many facts and far too much truth for a Yawn thread. Will you not learn, Joe? How dare you insert common sense and responsibility into one of his threads; it's his Kryptonite.

The veto should be good news to you Yawn ... now you can show your patriotism by enlisting and heading to Iraq to preserve our freedoms that those nasty Muslims have been taking from us.

Like has been asked, are you throwing more money into New Orleans since you felt bad about Katrina? To say you can only be for the war if you're on the front line is just bullshit.
