They started shooting Lord of the Rings with Stuart Townsend as Aragorn.

Dennis Quaid was supposed to be the Harold Ramis character in Stripes.

This is one moment where you're not trying to deceive the rabble.

    Well done.

Stanley Kubrick wanted Anthony Micheal Hall to play Joker in Full Metal Jacket.

Also, Adam Sandler was Tarantino's first choice to play The Bear Jew in Inglorious Basterds.

Sandler could have made that work. The weakest link in Basterds was Roth.

Tarantino and Roth were basically joined at the hip for a few years. I guess QT dumped him for Christoph Waltz.

Pierce Brosnan had to pass on playing James Bond after Remington Steele got renewed after orignally being canceled. So we got Timothy Dalton for The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill.

Yeah, Brosnan was completely screwed over. They could have very easily let him do it, but they decided to block it because they could. I think that was one of many reasons why Dalton failed so miserably as Bond. Everybody knew there was someone much, much better who should have been playing him.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion.

I'm guessing most disagree with you.

Re Pacino almost being iced out of "The Godfather" -- this video of screen tests is great. How about James Caan as Michael? Or Martin Sheen (looking like Meathead)?

And he was (gasp!) Irish. Of course, Lazenby was Australian ...
