What is the biggest point spread you remember?

Those games don't count. Vegas doesn't take bets on I-AA vs. I-A teams, so those spreads are usually just one guy creating a line--usually Danny Sheridan, and usually for publication; there is no widespread action on those games, because no one is taking the bets. I am sure there are a lot of top 10 1-A teams vs. mediocre I-AA teams that would have had huge spreads if you had all the odds makers setting lines on the games. But when it is 1-A vs. 1-AA the actual sportsbooks don't have lines available for betting.

  2. That was so yesterday.

Today you can find lines on any 1-A game pretty much no matter who they play. For example Michigan was a 28 point favorite over UMass this past weekend. I know because I'm still kicking myself for not taking the Minutemen.

Do you think a sportsbook would have a line on who wins Dancing with the Stars but not on the Michigan/UMass game?

That was the one I thought of. In the NFL, I'm pretty sure the Pats set the record a couple years ago. I don't think they covered.

I can't remember if Ware of Klingler was the QB on that Houston team.

Ware was the starter Klinger was the back-up. That was the year Ware won the Heisman.

Ware threw for 500+ yards in the first half and Klingler threw for 500+ yards in the second half.

Ware was also the last Heisman winner to not play a game on live TV the year he won the award.

Has any college team ever gone 0-12 against the spread?

Two QBs. Two top 10 picks. Two colossal NFL busts.

I wonder if there is anyway to look that up?

Sure, you can find some online offshore sportsbooks that will take bets on anything. And you can find an oddsmaker, somewhere, who will establish a line for anything. But for most gamblers, who are betting with 1) their bookie, 2) with the biggest and most reputable offshore books or 3) betting in Las Vegas, there was no posted line or possibility of betting on that game. I know there are a few offshore sportsbooks that post lines for every FBS-FCS matchup. If a few more put up a line for Michigan-UMass (and I have no clue if that is true), the only reason I can guess is the App State upset a few years ago against Michigan, so maybe they figured it might attract some money. But those games can't really count, for my purposes, because there isn't uniform action for every FBS-FCS matchup and you can't walk into most bookies or any Vegas sportsbooks and bet on those games.

    Products of the system.

I vaguely remember the 1983 Nebraska Cornhuskers as a 60-point favorite against someone (Kansas?). That was the team that had Mike Rozier winning the Heisman, Turner Gill at QB and Irving Fryar at wingback. Dominated everyone until a 31-30 loss to Miami in the Orange Bowl.
