What does the AP pay?

    Say you had a breaking story. Confirmed from a very reliable source who chooses to go unnamed. New college coaching hire. Your paper is not a member of the AP. Do they pay for something like that?

    They'll ask if they can have the story as a courtesy. It happened in my shop last week.

    They can just take it and attribute it to you. Also, they don't pay for news like that.

    And,if it is really really big news, they will just get a guy to confirm your info.
