What do you listen to when you're writing?

  1. I sometimes write with the headphones on. I just hit the shuffle on the iPod and it's all hip-hop. Or I'll fire up the AOL radio on the desktop and listen to RAW or The Rhyme on XM.

I just listened to the falling albums while typing in three track and field meets and a story:

The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place - Explosions in the Sky
Everything All the Time - Band of Horses
    Hot Fuss - The Killers

I listen to the cacophonous drone of a dozen gas-powered leaf blowers, since brooms are apparently no longer able to clean out the aisles at the ballpark.

Now when I hear a leaf blower in the neighborhood, I wonder why my blood pressure goes up 20 points.
