E! is getting ready to spin some "Tales of the Hoff," a Ryan Seacrest-produced scripted comedy starring David Hasselhoff.

Project -- part of E!'s previously announced move toward adding scripted programming into its mix -- will follow the fictional dark and twisted trials and tribulations of an international icon as he navigates Hollywood and the world of dating after divorce.

Skein also will explore the fictional icon's attempts to reinvigorate a career steeped in the past.

Hasselhoff will play the title role in the project, which insiders said will have a "Curb Your Enthusiasm" feel.
    ...
While "Tales of the Hoff" will center on a fictional character, the similarities between that character and Hasselhoff are obvious, including Hasselhoff's marital status (he divorced last year). Project stemmed from conversations Hasselhoff had with friends about how his life might inspire an interesting TV show.

That sounds super. No one does wry, understated humor like the Hoff!

The plague of frogs is next, right? Or is it locusts first?
