What Are . rar Files?

    And how the hell do I open them on a Mac?

    I just downloaded some music, but its in .rar format.

    What the hell?

    Basically, they're compressed files. Think .zip.
    Go to download.com and get WinRar.

    Dammit. WinRar is for Windows. Nothing for Mac. That I can find anyway.

    (Sorry, should have asked Mac or Windows)
    I don't know if it will work, but well, it was the first thing I could find.

    Stuffit can handle rar files on a Mac.

    I'm seconding a download of stuffit. You can get the full version from mininova.

    I'm pretty sure that they're pirated files.

    Or, perhaps that's .aar files.
