What about an sj.com ombudsman?

I know that BLOGS! have them as well as the traditional media outlets.

How about an SportsJournalists.com ombudsman? He/she can create a monthly report pointing out the good and bad in our posting. I know that IJAG does it on an ad hoc basis now.

    What do you think?

Maybe it should be a committee effort. It's tough for one person to point out the good and bad in posting, especially if he/she were involved in one or the other.

Um, don't we have ombudsmen? Aren't they called "moderators?"

    Nah, those would be "editors"

Why can't we just have an "ombudsman" thread with the best monthly posts or something? And mods could sticky it?

Why don't dexter and IJAG just get a room and get rid of all their sexual tension?

Would this person be in charge of procuring the Budweiser? Why else would it be called on-BUD-sman?

Excellent idea, but the execution could get...tricky.

I think a much better idea would be if someone, say once a week or once a month, were to put together a "Best of SportsJournalists.com" post (with links) in the spirit of The Soup or Best Week Ever. That way people could catch up on things they missed. It would be kind of silly to have an ombudsman critiquing the arguments and threads we have here.

Last week was a difficult week for Tim Tebow fans. First, pictures of him with his giant-breasted, unnamed companion showed up on SportsJournalists.com, leading to a lurid, heated, entertaining, but ultimately juvenile thread about her breasts. Next, a heated debate arose over Tebow's Heisman credentials. In the eyes of this ombudsman, this was simply too much Tebow, and his religion and his companion's breasts deserved less focus than whether or not he cried after losing to LSU and Georgia. In the future, SportsJournalists.com should focus more on tears and less on tits. I emailed Evil Bastard, aka Chris_L, who originally posted the Giant Breasts Tebow picture for comment, but he responded only with a picture of five women with the words "Vote Bush" shaved in their pubic hair.
