    COORDINATOR, ATHLETIC MEDIA RELATIONS

    Western Kentucky University, a member of the Sun Belt Conference and Football Bowl Subdivision
    (I-A) NCAA member institution, seeks applicants for the position of Coordinator, Athletic Media Relations. This positions reports directly to the Associate Atheltics Director / Communications.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
    The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
    Serves as the day-to-day media liaison for baseball and volleyball
    Promotes the University athletic teams, student-athletes, coaches and facilities
    Produces departmental press releases, media guides, and publications
    Responds to national, regional, and local media inquiries
    Helps maintain the Department of Athletics web site
    Assists with supervision of game day press operations
    Helps maintain archival information, records, photos, statistics, etc.
    Assists with intra-office payroll, billing, filing, and orders supplies and materials
    Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director / Communications

    Required Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s Degree
    Minimum two years experience in the field of media relations and public relations
    Must be self-motivated with attention to detail and accuracy
    Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills
    Computer proficiency and knowledge of Adobe’s PageMaker, InDesign, and Photoshop
    Travel along with evening and weekend hours
    Experience with StatCrew software and Jump TV website administration

    Media outlets will wonder why they're getting duplicates of Murray State releases.

    I would agree Knew a guy who used to work there several years ago. Nice town. Like all SIDs, job can be a little overwhleming at times and you have to LOVE what you do because the hours are insane. (Walk out of the arena at midnight after a basketball game and "see ya at eight in the morning for staff meeting")
