We're naming winter storms now?

    I believe they're calling it "Superstorm Sandy" because it was not a hurricane when it reached landfall [/WeatherChannelNerd]

    Lot of Hurricanes become tropical storms when the make landfall. Still referred to as "Hurricane" something or other. Although I can guess why Sandy got promoted from Hurricane/Tropical Storm to Superstorm: it hit the New York area. They think anything that happens to them, good or bad, is on a higher level than anyone else.
