This reminds me of a story my friend told me while she was working third shift at a convenience store several years ago.

An old man walks in and buys a sandwich and a drink. She gives him change for a 10. Man looks at the money and says, politely, 'I gave you a $50.'

My friend looks around but she doesn't see a $50 bill anywhere. She tells him she can't do anything about it.

The guy tells her he just got out of jail and that's all the money he had. He says he really needs his correct change. She looks around some more. No 50. Sorry, she tells him.

He gets furious and starts shouting at her. There all by herself, she tells the man she'll call the police and let them figure it out. He says fine.

Police arrive and listen to both sides. They take a look at the register and don't see a 50 lying anywhere. They tell the guy to move on.

By now he's furious and is throwing a fit in the store. They snap the cuffs on him and take him away.

An hour later my friend discovers his 50 in the stack of 5s.

Slight threadjack: My wife's case of unintentionally getting a person getting arrested:

Years ago, my wife thought she was working for an agency for special needs kids and adults. Her boss, each week would pay her in cash, and also give her a receipt for money taken out for taxes, Social Security, etc. My wife thought it was strange, but took the money anyways.

End of the year comes, my wife is waiting for her W-2 forms from the agency. She doesn't receive it, and calls them. Turns out, the agency had no records of ever hiring her. My wife comes to find out that her boss was taking the agency's funds, paying my wife, and pocketing the taxes and other deductions from my wife, and several other employees. Boss got fired, and arrested for grand larceny. She served a brief jail sentence and had to pay back all the money.

My wife did get hired by the agency, for real, and worked there for a while.

This doesn't sound accidental. The boss deserved to get arrested, even more so because she was doing it at an agency for special needs people.

Me and some friends made a wrong turn near the I-35 exit near Ft. Sam (San Antonio) one night and wound up in a bad neighborhood in a hurry. The girl who was driving went to change lanes quickly and smacked a guy who was passing on the right side.

After a while, the cop gets there and takes our information. He makes sure we understand that we're in a bad neighborhood and needed to make sure this didn't happen again.

About 15 minutes later, three other cops show up and quickly escort us out of the way. The two guys were wanted for murder.

Before we left, the first cop thanked us.
