Bottom line is it's too early to tell with any of this. Katrina didn't even form as a Tropical Depression until reaching the Bahamas on Aug. 23, 2005, and made landfall in south Mississippi and Louisiana 5 1/2 days later.

But yeah, the last two weeks of August and the first three weeks of September always call for storm-watchin' along the Gulf Coast.

    Hurricane Humberto.

And even tropical storms can bring significant rain, especially if they don't move very quickly.

Now let's stop down for a little Claudette.

(First one to get this reference gets a beer, but I've been dying to post this since I saw the list of names.)

Actually it's a Ticket reference -- a Mike Rhyner sound drop. I have no idea what it originated from. I was just hoping to draw a P1 offsides.

That's my where-in-the-9-blue-hells-did-that-thing-come-from?!? reaction. This time yesterday, Claudette was a thunderstorm over the Keys.

Tonight Jim Cantore is either on or headed toward St. George Island, a sliver of land just off the coast in Apalachicola Bay.

    St. George Island is doomed.
