Better case than Glavine? [expletive deleted].

    300+ wins
    Five 20-win seasons
    Two Cy Youngs
World Series MVP (after a 1-hitter in the clincher)
Co-ace of staff that won 11 consecutive division titles

    Your turn.

Retired Pitchers who deserve to be in HOF
    Tommy John
    Bert Blyleven
    Jim Kaat
    Jack Morris
    Roger Clemens

Active Pitchers who deserve to get in HOF
    Greg Maddux
    Tom Glavine
    Randy Johnson
    Mariano Rivera

    Smoltz?

When they all get in Mussina should get due consideration.
Mussina may be the definition of the best pitcher not in the HOF.

Johnson is a lock. Pedro needs another couple of solid years. Not dominant, just solid.

At 214-99? Not if he retired today. His career ERA is damned nice but he'll have to close out a lot stronger than 5.61, buddy.

Right now, Mussina does not deserve to get in. If he doesn't win 20 games or get to 300 wins, he should not get in.

If he gets at least one of those milestones, he should be in. If he gets both, he's in.

Pedro will go in as a Met, too.

He was the most dominating pitcher of my lifetime (admittedly, not a long one. :D). He's in.

His 1999 season was one of the best in history -- and his 2000 was even better.

Unworldly dominance > a "low" 214 career wins. It's not all about numbers.

Damn, I should've known you'd beat me to this.

Since I did the research anyway, I'll add one more. Glavine's career ERA is 3.54. Mussina's is 3.68.

Sorry jagtrader. You're way off on this one.

Agreed, Pedro has to be a lock.

Yeah, and apparently you're not thinking clearly, either. You know, for a guy who remembers the shoe sizes of each player in the 1913 season, you sure do an awful lot of forgetting about Pete Schourek.

    Perhaps you should try hockey.

You'll notice, OOP, I didn't use Glavine's career ERA as part of his case. It, uhh, doesn't exactly help him. ;)

I noticed. That's part of why I posted it. An argument that far off base deserves a little piling on.

Besides, I didn't want the couple of minutes I spent on baseballreference.com to go to waste. :)
