Weird reactions and crappy people

Can a person do something flattering for someone and not get shit on? Or is it not possible?

I wrote a song for this person I know and played it for her, and she told me today, "I felt violated when you sang it, I wasn't expecting it."
This is three weeks after not seeing her at all.

It's like WTF?
Not a week before she floated the idea of taking a road trip together, me and her, and then she gets all bent out of shape over a song written about her.
Doesn't make sense to me.

It's like, if you feel violated when someone does something nice for you, what's your reaction when someone pisses you off?

Ugh.

 

May I ask what the song included? Was it sexual or extremely personal?

 

Violated? Did you include some lines from NIN's "Closer" or something?

Yeah, that was creepy. And yet funny at the same time.

 

Maybe he just reworked the lyrics to Mind of a Lunatic by the Geto Boys

 

I don't think it's a great song, like you said, but there's no reason she should feel "violated," like she claimed.

Maybe you reminded her about something in her past or it struck an awkward chord. Other than that, my friend, I've got nothing.

Sounds like you (unintentially) overstepped the relationship's boundaries. Having someone sing a song to you that they wrote about you is pretty intensely personal, and she must not be there. I'm guessing she felt less "violated" than embarrassed.

 

Eh, ya I suppose. Feels like I lost out on her based on a technicality...Like the replay judge found that my foot was half an inch out of bounds on the catch. Pretty lame, but those are the breaks I guess.
