Weird conversion question.

We use NewsEdit at work and a while back, I had figured out a conversion: How many words in Microsoft Word (using 12 pt. Times) equals one inch in NewsEdit.

I think I figured 22 words, but I honestly don't remember. And now that I have something I'm working on, it would be handy to have a ballpark figure.

Anyone else come up with something?

I was told a while back that, roughly, 30 words = 1 inch with a standard (Times/Arial) font. Naturally, it varies depending on word size, sentence construction, etc.

I was told the same in college.
