And in totally unrelated news, Booger McFarland pulled a larynx late in last night's game and MNF has signed a rookie announcer named Peyton Manning in his place.

    Steelers place Davis on IR

The Steelers' need for secondary help was even greater than anybody knew last night. They put safety Sean Davis on IR today with a shoulder injury to make room for Fitzpatrick. I'm assuming that was yet another factor pushing them into making the trade. I just worry that the Pittsburgh front office made that deal thinking they could salvage this season, not realizing just how high of a first-round pick they might be giving up.

Sounds like Cam Newton might be out for a bit too.

Mort getting after Rapoport on Twitter.

  6. That's a great move! And a solid deal!
They give up a first-round pick for a kid who's already a proven commodity. And they have under rookie contract for 3 years.

There is no where go but up for the Steeler with this trade.

Unless it’s a top ten pick who they'd have control over for 5 years.

  8. I disagree.
Even if it's Top 10, It's still a crapshoot. And the Steelers have not had good luck with 1st rounds picks, or DBs and Safeties, the last few years.
Again, they got a known commodity, with 3 years left on his rookie deal. This is a steal.

I don't think Steelers get a Top 10 pick anyway. Top 20, probably.
There are easily 10 teams worse than the Steelers with Rudolph playing QB.
Dolphins, Cardinals, Jets, Lions, Raiders, Broncos, Chargers, Giants, Bengals, Jags, Buccaneers and the Titans.

    A steal? Ok.

It's a steal at that salary. Who knows, maybe he will outperform that rookie deal in 2019, hold out next year, get traded to the Raiders, waived by them, and then end up with the Pats.

I like Mort. But ESPN has been doing the same thing forever.

This mess certainly isn’t Manning’s fault. But might as well see if the kid can play.

The Giants are such a mess. No defense and no receivers.
