How exactly is it bigger than that Ohio State-Michigan game?

    It's not.

The winner of Florida-Bama will likely win the national championship, while the winner of Ohio State-Michigan was merely guaranteed to lose it?

I agree with you, for the reasons Flying Headbutt laid out. I'm just curious to see if Mizzougrad can defend his position.

wasn't last year's SEC title game played with the same stakes as this year's game?

Same stakes but Bama was ranked third.

Florida didn't have an unbeaten season at stake.

Actually, Bama was No. 1 (only undefeated team from a BCS conference) and Florida was 4. That was in the BCS standings.

They were 1-2 in the AP poll.

Who cares, though? The winner of last year's game got a spot in the BCS title game. Same thing this year. That's the goal.

The only thing an unbeaten season is worth (other than the title, which can be won with one or two losses) is to say "We had our first unbeaten season since 1994 or whatever).

This year's SEC title game is no more important or meaningful than last year's. Same stakes.

    2. You're changing your standards after the fact.

Not really. It's about getting a spot in the BCS title game. You think either team cares where they're ranked right now as long as they get a spot in the title game if they win Saturday? Negative, ghostrider.

    Tebow played last year, too.

decent coveer story in SI on ingram/dad. didn't know bama's never had a heisman winner. also, ingram is a few yards shy of breaking bobby humphrey's single-season record (1,399).
