Just watched the All 22's from various angles. One thing I came away with is that Kuechly
moved Gronkowski almost 2 yards backwards. If had not been pushed he would have
been a lot closer to making the catch.

If anything it was Def Holding but official dropped flag for pass interference so they could not change.

In week 4 the Pats did the same thing to Gonzales on 2 goal line plays in their game and there was no flag so I guess what goes around comes around.

He was prevented from making a play on the ball, just like the article states.

You cannot have defenders decide to bear hug offensive players all over the field if they are not the intended targets.

It might be a penalty if Gronkowski is showing any effort to cut back toward the ball. But since he didn't, there's no way he was going to catch that ball even without being held. If it looks like he's struggling to get back toward the ball, it's a penalty. He could have and should have sold it a lot better. He didn't.

Gronkowski did not sell it well but clearly he was pushed 2 yards deeper and away from the ball. If he had fought to get back it might have been a different story.

Now here is the perfect end quote, from former NFL back judge Jim Daopoulos:

"We as officials have always been taught, for a ball to be uncatchable, it has to be clearly out of the field of play or it has to be a kind of — I probably shouldn't say this — a Tim Tebow-type pass that lands 15 yards in front of you."
