You could be right. We'll know for sure if they actually suspend him. Mayock's news conference lasted 15 seconds.

That makes no sense to me. They can threaten it, but to actually do it would be so self-wounding.

Mayock is such an old school hardo. He can't help himself. I expected this relationship to combust eventually. Not before the damn season began, though.

Blow up the team? Did he play a down in the preseason?

No, but there's a long list of star players that haven't played in the preseason. If Hard Knocks is to be believed, Brown was past the foot and helmet crap and getting in enough practice reps to be ready to go live.

This is complete crap on Mayock's part, even though I'm sure 99 percent of the public and media flogging is directed at Brown.

The entire Bears starting roster, except for Roquan Smith for one series, didn't play a single preseason down. Hell, most of the top backups didn't play.

The GM shouldn't have fined a player for skipping mandatory team meetings? Or Mayock shouldn't have posted it on social media and ranted about how unfair it was? Or Mayock shouldn't have tried to start a fight with Brown where he needed to be held back by other front-office personnel?

Mayock is playing a role to make sure Gruden doesn't look like the bad guy. The Brown move was Gruden's all the way.

That's a good way to lose the locker room right quick. But hey, that's more than Tomlin ever did to Brown. Fucking enabled this jackass for years and Kevin Colbert wasn't much better.
