Wedding wear?

    Anyway, for fuck's sake, JR. There are high schools around here that still use those definitions for proms. In really poor neighborhoods, for that matter.

    Those rules still applied in the South in the '60s, so somewhat more recent than you're thinking. The folks whose daughters are presented at St. Cecilia's may still hold with it; I wouldn't know.

    Final bit of trivia: If the bride wanted the men in tuxedos at a daytime wedding, it was acceptable at noon, at least in our neck of the woods.

    If anyone is interested, I took Frank's advice and asked. They seem pretty indifferent--suit, seersucker, or jacket and slacks would all meet their standards.
