So on the invitations the bride and groom need to tell us what to wear and their annual salary?

    (unless you meant blue font)

I used to be concerned about what to wear to social events.

    Then, I became a designer.

Now, that I'm an arteest, I'm there to add a colorful accent.

The folks in suits are merely gray space to heighten my fashion impact.

Because you are a guest at their event. Don't want to buy a gift? Don't go.

Or you could ask them for a gift for you know, attending.

I'm getting married Saturday and don't give a fuck what people wear, as long as they don't look like slobs. The wedding's in Newport, so boat shoes, khakis pretty much get the job done.
I'll be in a tux. I hate it. I wanted to wear a seersucker suit. And yes, I can pull it off.
At Schieza's wedding, I'm hitting him up with white shoes, pink pants and a pastel button downed. I'm going to be the best-dressed person there - groom included.

I've never heard of wearing polo shirts to a wedding. A wedding is one occasion that requires a suit or at least a sport coat and tie. If you don't want to do that, don't go. These people are spending thousands of dollars to throw the party, it's the least you can do to dress properly.

    I haven't smoked since I was 30.

Well, you'll be the most conspicuous person there. Best-dressed is highly debatable.

Went to a funeral this past week, and was shocked that my brother and I were the only two men there wearing suits. There were only a couple sport jackets. The deceased's son, a Navy man, did the eulogy in a black short-sleeve shirt and a tie. (Weather was not a factor - it was pretty cold that day.)

Back when this thread was live, some people kind of took a live-and-let-live approach regarding weddings. Same with funerals? I'm starting to feel really overdressed at some of these events.
