Is this the thread where I complain about my manager at work? Have to work Saturday. The only Saturday all year. Had planned a trip to Iowa City 13 months ago --- and whatta ya know... it's gonna be a helluva game this weekend. F.

    You're better off working.

    Go fuck yourself sideways.

  5. That's good. But a lot of really respected baseball people have turned out to not be such great managers, especially in situations where it is tough to compete. Like the AL East, where to get to the postseason you've got to go through the Yankees, and the Red Sox, and the Rays.

Do't get me wrong, it would give me a warm, fuzzy feeling all over to see the Yankees and Red Sox battling for last place, with the Blue Jays, Rays and O's competing for the playoffs. I just don't see that happening any time soon.

    Dear A_QB,

You complete me. And by complete, I mean 200-pitch complete games.

    Love and kisses,

Dusty Baker, manager of the reigning NL Central champions

P.S. I think the Cubs could shore up some cracks by signing Corey Patterson.

@JS_bizofsports: Per @haudricourt, ESPN has clause in Bobby V's contract that says if he gets a job, ESPN gets the story first. Hello, checkbook journalism.
