We lost the Battle of the Bulge?

I'm paraphrasing Rudy Giuliani here --

I think that any president who fights a war for more than a year becomes more unpopular.

Imaging what polls would have shown about Lincoln after the losses and after he replaced all of those generals.

I was talking to a veteran yesterday who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and he told me to remind people that at that point people thought the war was going bad. And I agree, it was one of the worst losses in American military history. But we moved on from it and perservered.

Ladies and Gentlemen, 2008 Presidential nominee Rudolph Giuliani!

Well, I know of a few people here that certainly have lost that battle.

Is this supposed to relate to Iraq somehow? We already won that war. It's the cleanup that's a bitch.

Nah, we won it, but after watching Cronkite everyone thought we lost.

We're not speaking German, so we didn't fare that poorly.

Shame on Rudy. It was Germany's final sustained offensive -- they threw everything they had left at it -- but they couldn't follow through.

We won the American Revolution, so why do we speak English? ;)

Dunno about what you fuzzy Canadians speak (while you wait at empty crosswalks and have pleasant conversations, rather than crossing the street). But here, we don't speak English. We speak 'merican.
