    When a horse finishes runner-up, it's pretty much a no-contest vote.

    What an insult to real athletes when two horses are among those who receive votes.
    Or, is it an indictment on the quality of women's sports?

    The latter.

    Aside from Serena, there weren't many human athletes worthy of the title. Hell, I'm not sure Serena deserved it. I remember her tirade at the official more than any tournament victories.

    What I want to know is, how come horses get a vote for female athlete of the year yet Jimmie Johnson's car got no votes? Horse = race car; Jockey = Jimmie Johnson, no?
